MMS Escape Room Challenge
8th Grade Students at Memorial Middle School were in for a shocking surprise as they quickly realized that their teacher, Ms. Dalia Aleman, had converted their classroom into an Escape Room! Students were charged with immense task of taking back the treasure that King John collected for himself by imposing severe tax assessments and extorting the good people of their land (their classroom)! Groups were given clues to help them throughout the activity as they worked as a team in order to Break Out and Escape Ms. Aleman's classroom or be doomed to stay forever! Through trials and tribulations to solve each challenging station, 8th graders actively collaborated, using critical thinking skills and creativity to piece the clues together to solve various levels of difficult tasks based on their knowledge of U.S History topics covered. Perhaps one of the greatest moments for Ms. Aleman was seeing that as students solved challenges and uncovered clues, resources amongst peers were discovered as some of the more tenuous in class proved to be key fellows and great leaders in problem solving. The students were motivated and did an Amazing Job of making their way through the very first Escape Room at Memorial Middle School. Ms. Aleman's students eagerly await the next Social Studies Escape Room challenge!
